Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that India’s first domestically manufactured semiconductor chip will hit the market by the end of 2025, marking a milestone in the country’s technology ambitions. He also said the government is moving rapidly to develop a Made-in-India 6G network.

Speaking at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum, Modi said India had “missed the bus” on semiconductors decades ago but is now reversing that trend. “Semiconductor-related factories have started coming up in India. By the end of this year, the first Made in India chip will come in the market,” he said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted advances in telecom technology, stressing that India was “working rapidly” on 6G to keep pace with global innovation.

On electric mobility, Modi said India is poised to emerge as a major exporter. “India is now going to export electric vehicles to 100 countries of the world. A very big program related to this is also being held on 26th August,” he announced.

Lauding the resilience of the economy, Modi said India’s “Reform, Perform, Transform” approach puts it in a position to drive global growth. “We are not the people who sit on the banks of stagnant water and throw pebbles. We are the people who can turn the fast-flowing stream,” he said.
