Palash Muchhal Files ₹10 Crore Defamation Case After Cheating Allegations by Vidnyan Mane
Music composer and singer Palash Muchhal, who was recently in the news after reports of his wedding with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana being called off, has landed in fresh controversy. Marathi actor and producer Vidnyan Mane has alleged that Muchhal cheated him of ₹40 lakh and also accused him of being unfaithful to Mandhana.
Muchhal has now responded by taking legal action, filing a ₹10 crore defamation case against Mane over what he has described as “false” and “outrageous” allegations.
Palash files defamation notice
Muchhal shared an update on Instagram on Saturday evening, stating, “A legal notice of defamation of ₹10 crore has been sent by my lawyer Shreyansh Mithare to Sangli-based Vidnyan Mane for his false, outrageous and highly defamatory accusations made with the deliberate intent to malign my reputation and character.”
Details of the allegations
According to a report by news agency PTI, 34-year-old Vidnyan Mane recently approached the police in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, alleging that he was cheated by Muchhal of ₹40 lakh. No First Information Report (FIR) has been registered so far.
As per Mane’s complaint, he met Muchhal in Sangli on December 5, 2023. Mane claimed he expressed interest in investing in film production, after which Muchhal allegedly предложed that he invest as a producer in his upcoming project Nazaria. Mane was reportedly told that an investment of ₹25 lakh could yield a profit of ₹12 lakh after the film’s release on OTT platforms, and he was also offered a role in the project.
The two reportedly met twice thereafter, and Mane alleged that he paid a total of ₹40 lakh to Muchhal by March 2025. However, the project was not completed, following which Mane sought a refund but allegedly received no response. He then approached the police.
In addition to the financial allegations, Mane also accused Muchhal of being unfaithful to Smriti Mandhana before their planned marriage.
Muchhal has denied all claims, calling them defamatory, and has chosen to pursue legal remedies as the matter unfolds.
