Over 20 Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threat Emails; Police Launch Probe, No Explosives Found So Far

More than 20 schools across Delhi were targeted with bomb threat emails early Friday morning, prompting widespread panic, emergency evacuations, and a massive response from law enforcement and fire services.

The Delhi Police confirmed the threats and have launched a full investigation into the origin and authenticity of the messages.

Among the affected institutions were Richmondd Global School in Paschim Vihar and Abhinav Public School in Rohini Sector 3, where emergency teams, including bomb squads and fire services, were swiftly deployed.

“This is a serious situation. All necessary protocols are being followed, and investigation is underway,” said a Delhi Police official.

Disturbing Email Details

The threatening emails included graphic and violent language, claiming that explosives had been planted in school classrooms.

“I have placed several explosive devices (trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms… I will erase every last one of you from this world,” the email read, according to reports cited by ANI.

The email also contained deeply troubling statements from the sender, expressing suicidal intent and feelings of abandonment, raising concerns about the sender’s mental state.

Political Fallout

The bomb threats have triggered sharp political reactions. Atishi, senior AAP leader and former Delhi Education Minister, condemned the BJP-led central government for failing to ensure the safety of children.

“More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents, and teachers are going through. BJP controls all 4 engines of governance in Delhi, and yet cannot ensure basic security,” she posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Ongoing Threat Pattern

This incident follows a spate of similar threats in recent days. Earlier this week, around 10 schools and a college received bomb threats, leading to evacuations and temporary closures. Institutions targeted earlier included St. Thomas School in Dwarka, Vasant Valley School, The Mother’s International School, and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, which preemptively shut down on July 16 after receiving a threat.

Even St. Stephen’s College was targeted, with an email claiming a bomb was planted in its library. A full search was conducted, but no explosive device was found.

Security Measures and Response

Delhi Fire Services confirmed that their teams, alongside the police and bomb disposal squads, were immediately sent to the affected campuses. Dog squads and special police units were deployed to conduct thorough searches. So far, no explosives or suspicious objects have been recovered, officials said.

“Our priority is ensuring the safety of all students and staff. Each location is being carefully examined,” said a senior official involved in the operation.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are now working with cybercrime experts to trace the origin of the emails, which bear resemblance in tone and content to previous threats. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of a hoax, but are treating each case with full seriousness given the potential risk to life.

Police have appealed to the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity. Schools across the city remain on high alert, and additional security protocols have been advised for the coming days.
