Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were disrupted on Friday after a technical glitch hit the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system, causing widespread delays.

More than 100 flights were delayed as airport authorities and ATC teams worked to restore normal operations, according to PTI. Passengers were advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines for real-time updates.

In a statement, Delhi Airport confirmed that the ATC team was coordinating with stakeholders to resolve the issue “at the earliest.” “Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates,” it added.

Airlines Issue Advisories

Major carriers including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet acknowledged the disruption and issued travel advisories for passengers.

Air India said the ATC glitch had led to flight delays and longer wait times. “We regret the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen disruption, which is beyond our control, and appreciate your patience. Our cabin crew and on-ground staff are assisting passengers to minimize inconvenience,” the airline said.

SpiceJet warned of expected delays in both departures and arrivals, urging passengers to check their flight status at spicejet.com/#status.

IndiGo issued a similar advisory, asking travellers to verify flight updates on its website. “We understand that extended wait times, both on the ground and onboard, may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate your patience,” the airline said.

Normal operations are expected to resume once the ATC issue is fully resolved.
