Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a 35-minute phone call with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, during which he firmly stated that India’s counter-terror campaign, Operation Sindoor, is still in progress and will not be paused for any trade negotiations.

Briefing reporters on the conversation, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “President Trump and PM Modi had a conversation for about 35 minutes today. During the conversation, PM Modi told Trump that India will reply to Pakistan’s bullets with shells. PM Modi said India’s Operation Sindoor is still going on.”

Misri emphasized that the Prime Minister ruled out any trade discussions with the US while India is actively responding to terrorism. “PM Modi clearly told Trump that India will not enter into any trade deal while the fight against terrorism is underway. Our focus remains on national security,” Misri added.

The strong message comes amid heightened tensions in the region and underscores India’s position that national security and counter-terrorism efforts take precedence over diplomatic or economic negotiations.
