Actor Nora Fatehi on Sunday issued a strong denial after media reports linked her to drug- and rave parties allegedly organised in Mumbai by detained drug trafficker Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, reportedly attended by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s nephew.

In a statement posted on Instagram Stories, Nora called the allegations “lies” and said she is being targeted without cause.

“I don’t go to parties… I’m constantly on flights. I’m a workaholic, I don’t have a personal life,” she wrote, adding that she spends her free time at home, on a Dubai beach, or with old friends. “Don’t believe anything you read! It seems like my name is an easy target!”

She said similar attempts to “slander” her in the past failed, and warned media outlets against misusing her name and image. “Please refrain from using my name and image on situations that have absolutely NOTHING to do with me! This will come with a heavy, heavy price!”

Background to the case
Nora’s statement came after reports claimed that she, Shraddha Kapoor and other Bollywood celebrities attended rave parties organised by Shaikh, who is currently in the custody of Mumbai Police’s Ghatkopar Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC). Shaikh, recently deported from Dubai, allegedly told investigators he hosted drug-fuelled gatherings for Bollywood and fashion industry figures, which were also attended by Alishah Parkar, nephew of Dawood Ibrahim.

ANC officials have not ruled out questioning the celebrities named by Shaikh as the investigation progresses.
