No Tomahawks for Ukraine “Right Now,” Says Trump

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday he is not currently considering a deal that would allow Ukraine to acquire long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles for use against Russia, despite appeals from Kyiv and discussions within NATO.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump dismissed the idea of selling Tomahawks to NATO allies who could then transfer them to Ukraine, saying he does not want to further escalate the conflict.

“No, not really,” Trump said when asked if he was weighing such a deal, though he added that he “could change his mind.”

The proposal was raised during Trump’s October 22 meeting at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who said last week the matter was still under review but ultimately “up to the United States to decide.”

Tomahawk missiles can strike targets up to 2,500 km (1,550 miles) away — a range that would allow Ukraine to hit deep inside Russian territory, including Moscow. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly requested the weapons, while the Kremlin has warned that any transfer of Tomahawks to Kyiv would be seen as a major escalation.
