No Ceasefire Violation Along LoC, Says Indian Army; Dismisses Reports from Poonch Sector
The Indian Army on Tuesday categorically denied reports of a ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, stating that no such incident took place in the Krishna Ghati sector.
Earlier media reports had claimed that Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire in the Krishna Ghati area, prompting a 15-minute retaliatory exchange of fire by Indian troops. The reports added that no casualties were reported on either side.
However, an official Army statement clarified:
“There has been no ceasefire violation along the Line of Control.”
Recent Tensions: May Conflict Recalled
While the situation remains calm currently, the last documented ceasefire breach occurred in May 2025, when Pakistan Rangers opened unprovoked fire on Border Security Force (BSF) positions along the International Border in Jammu sector on the night of May 9.
In response, the BSF launched a firm counter-offensive, causing significant damage to Pakistani posts and infrastructure.
“BSF responded in a commensurate manner causing widespread damage to posts and assets of Pakistan Rangers,” said the BSF’s Jammu division in an official statement.
Operation Sindoor: The Trigger
The May hostilities followed India’s launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was a direct retaliation to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed in a mass shooting at Baisaran meadow.
Following the strikes, Pakistan retaliated unsuccessfully using drones and missiles, further escalating the conflict. The military standoff concluded on May 10, when the Pakistani DGMO reached out to his Indian counterpart, initiating de-escalation talks.
