Nifty, Sensex retreat from day’s low as Coal India, ICICI Bank gain; SMIDs fall
The Indian benchmark indices extended losses in Monday’s session amid largely positive sentiment on other global markets.
As of 12:00 PM, the Nifty 50 was trading 0.72 per cent or 185 points down at 25,498.50, and the Sensex was trading 0.75 per cent or 625.17 points down at 82,951.07.
Eternal, Eicher Motors, and Jio Financial Services were top losers in the Nifty 50 index. Coal India, Trent, and SBI life Insurance were top gainers in the index.
In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 and the Smallcap 100 were trading 1.24 per cent and 1.7 per cent down, respectively.
Among sectors, the Nifty Realty index declined 1.6 per cent, the Nifty Pharma index 0.97 per cent, the Nifty Auto index 0.6 per cent, and the Nifty IT, and Bank indices 0.5 per cent each.
Q3 results today
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCL Technologies, Anand Rathi Wealth, GTPL Hathway, Gujarat Hotels, Lotus Chocolate Company, Maharashtra Scooters, OK Play India, and Tierra Agrotech are slated to report their quarterly earnings today.
Investors will also react to the results of Avenue Supermarts (DMart), IREDA, and others, which were released after market hours on Friday.
