Nifty, Sensex near day’s low as Titan, BEL support; KNR Construction up over 7%
Indian equity benchmark indices were trading lower on Friday, as the holiday-shortened week offered few fresh triggers for investors. Markets were closed on Thursday for the Christmas holiday.
Around 12:00 pm, the NSE Nifty 50 was down 0.32 per cent, or 83.75 points, at 26,058.35, while the BSE Sensex slipped 0.37 per cent, or 312.86 points, to 85,095.84.
Bajaj Finance, Eternal, Sun Pharma, TCS, Tata Steel and HCLTech were among the top losers, while BEL, Titan, NTPC, Power Grid and ICICI Bank led the gainers.
In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 150 and Nifty Smallcap 250 were marginally higher, up 0.04 per cent and 0.08 per cent, respectively.
Sectorally, Nifty IT, Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma were the top laggards, while Nifty Metal, Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Chemicals outperformed.

In the mainboard segment, the basis of allotment for the Gujarat Kidney IPO is set to be finalised on Friday.
In the SME space, the E to E Transportation Infrastructure IPO opens for public subscription, while Apollo Techno Industries, Bai Kakaji Polymers, Admach Systems, Nanta Tech and Dhara Rail Projects IPOs enter their final day of bidding.
