Nifty below 25,800, Sensex down over 260 points; Eternal rises over 4%
Indian benchmark indices — BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty — extended losses as investors have their eyes peeled for the US-India trade talks.
On Monday, US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, said that the two nations will engage in trade talks today.
As of 12:20 PM, the Nifty 50 was trading 0.14 per cent or 36.25 points down at 25,754, and the Sensex was 0.31 per cent or 264.13 points down at 83,614.04.
Eternal, Tech M, SBI, BEL, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, HUL, Titan Company, ICICI Bank, ITC, and Axis Bank were among the top gainers, rising up to 3 per cent.
On the flipside, L&T, RIL, Tata Steel, M&M, Trent, TCS, IndiGo, Bharti Airtel, and Sun Pharma were in the red.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index slipped 0.23 per cent, but the Nifty SmallCap index gained 0.41 per cent.
Among sectors, the Nifty PSU Bank index gained 0.88 per cent, followed by the Nifty FMCG, IT, and Metal indices (0.3 per cent each). On the downside, the Nifty Pharma index fell 0.25 per cent.
Q3 Results
ICICI Lombard, ICICI Prudential Life, Tata Elxsi, 5paisa Capital, Just Dial, Bank of Maharashtra, Navkar Corporation, Oriental Hotels, Sigma Solve, and Tokyo Plast International are slated to report their earnings today. Markets will also react to results from TCS, HCL Technologies, Anand Rathi Wealth, and others, which were released after hours on Monday.
