NIA Arrests Key Conspirator in Delhi Car Blast That Killed 10 Near Red Fort
In a major breakthrough in the Delhi car blast case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Kashmiri man accused of conspiring with Umar Un Nabi — the suspected suicide bomber who drove the explosives-laden vehicle that exploded near the Red Fort on November 10, killing 10 people.
The agency said it has taken into custody Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Samboora, Pampore (Jammu & Kashmir), in whose name the Hyundai i20 used in the attack was registered. Ali was arrested in Delhi.
According to an NIA statement, Ali conspired with Umar Un Nabi to execute the terror attack. He had allegedly travelled to Delhi to help facilitate the purchase of the Hyundai i20, which was later seen on multiple CCTV cameras stopping at several intersections across Old Delhi before the blast.
A forensic analysis by the NIA confirmed that the deceased driver was Umar Un Nabi, an assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad and a resident of Pulwama district.
On Saturday, Delhi Police detained three people — including two doctors from Al Falah University — after the institution emerged as a significant link in the suspected terror module.
The NIA said it is pursuing several leads to uncover the broader conspiracy and identify additional suspects. Investigators have also seized another vehicle belonging to Umar, which is being examined for evidence. So far, the agency has recorded statements from 73 witnesses, including survivors of the blast.
