New Twist in Meghalaya Murder: Unraveling the Role of Jitendra Raghuvanshi in Raja Raghuvanshi Case

As the investigation into the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case intensifies with fresh revelations almost daily, a new figure has come into focus — Jitendra Raghuvanshi — potentially shifting the direction of the probe.

So far, Meghalaya Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi: his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, and three men identified as Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi. All five were brought to Meghalaya and placed under an eight-day police custody starting Wednesday.

Who Is Jitendra Raghuvanshi?

Jitendra Raghuvanshi’s name surfaced after it was revealed that Sonam allegedly used an account in his name to make the initial payments on May 23 to the hired hitmen involved in Raja’s murder.

When questioned about Jitendra, Sonam’s brother Govind told the media on Wednesday that Jitendra is his cousin. He explained that Sonam’s UPI account was opened under Jitendra’s name, though he did not clarify why the account was not directly opened in Sonam’s name, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The mention of Jitendra raised suspicions about possible hawala transactions and brought scrutiny on the family business for alleged hawala links.

However, Govind dismissed these claims, stating that Jitendra is a junior employee in their family business, responsible for logistics, and that the account in his name was used for regular business transactions. He told The New Indian Express:

“We don’t have to do anything with hawala. False stories are being cooked up. Jitendra Raghuvanshi, whose name is coming up, is my maternal cousin and a junior employee who manages loading and unloading in the godown. The account under his name holds our money, used for day-to-day business expenses.”

Sonam’s Brother Supports Raja Raghuvanshi’s Family

Govind also visited Sonam’s in-laws in Indore on Tuesday to console the grieving family and apologized for his sister’s alleged involvement in the murder.

He expressed his belief that Sonam was responsible for the killing:

“I met Sonam in Ghazipur for just two minutes and questioned her intensely. Her reactions made it clear to me that she committed the crime.”

Govind confirmed that his family has severed ties with Sonam and pledged to support Raja Raghuvanshi’s family in their pursuit of justice.
