MTV VMAs 2025: Lady Gaga Wins Artist of the Year, Ariana Grande Sweeps Top Honors
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards turned into a celebration of women in music, with Lady Gaga, Rosé, Ariana Grande, and Mariah Carey among the night’s biggest winners at the star-studded ceremony in New York on Sunday.
Hosted by LL Cool J for the second year in a row, the event took place at UBS Arena and featured performances from Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, J Balvin with DJ Snake, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Conan Gray, Tate McRae, and more.
Lady Gaga was crowned Artist of the Year and also won multiple technical awards for Abracadabra. Rosé, alongside Bruno Mars, earned Song of the Year for APT. Ariana Grande swept Video of the Year, Best Pop, and Best Long Form Video for Brighter Days Ahead. “Thank you to my therapists and gay people. I love you,” Grande said in her acceptance speech.
Mariah Carey received the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, honoring her groundbreaking career in pop and R&B.
Other top winners included Sabrina Carpenter (Best Album), Doechii (Best Hip-Hop and *Best Choreography), Coldplay (Best Rock), BLACKPINK (Best Group), Shakira (Best Latin), and Tyla (Best Afrobeats).
The night also celebrated icons beyond the competitive categories, with Busta Rhymes receiving the Rock the Bells Visionary Award and Ricky Martin honored with the Latin Icon Award.
