Actor Mrunal Thakur has come out in support of Katrina Kaif and Kriti Sanon after both Bollywood stars faced online trolling over their appearance and clothing choices. Emphasising the need to respect personal decisions, Mrunal said people should not overlook the actresses’ contributions to the film industry and their business achievements.

Mrunal made the remarks while promoting her upcoming film Pooja Meri Jaan. Speaking to PTI, she was asked about the scrutiny female actors face over their appearance and clothing.

Mrunal Thakur Says Katrina, Kriti Deserve Respect

Defending Katrina and Kriti, Mrunal stressed that everyone has the right to make personal choices without being subjected to unnecessary judgement.

“It’s their life, it’s their choice, and everyone has a right to enjoy the phase of their life. And who are we? People who are judging all these iconic women, do we forget how amazing work (they have done) and the contribution towards the industry and business both of these women,” she told PTI.

The actor also highlighted their professional achievements, pointing out that their influence extends beyond the Indian film industry.

“Be it Kriti or Katrina, they are running a business not just in India but everywhere in the UK and all. I think people should not comment on anyone else. People are crazy, what else to say,” Mrunal added.

She further observed that public scrutiny is not limited to women, saying men are also increasingly subjected to judgement.

“Women are always judged, and when are they not judged? But not just women, even men are judged,” she said.

Katrina Kaif Faces Body-Shaming After Ganpati Celebrations

Katrina Kaif faced online trolling and body-shaming last month after appearing at the Ambanis’ Ganpati celebrations. Several social media users commented on her appearance and weight following the birth of her son, Vihaan.

The actor later addressed the criticism while speaking at an event for her brand in London. Katrina said she did not want to allow the narrative on social media to “paralyse” her, highlighting the pressure public figures can face because of online commentary.

Kriti Sanon Faces Backlash Over Jewellery Advertisement

Kriti Sanon also faced criticism over an advertisement for a jewellery brand released around Raksha Bandhan. Some social media users objected to the clothing featured in the campaign, sparking a debate online.

The advertisement was eventually taken down, and Kriti issued a clarification on social media, stating that she had not intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Mrunal’s comments add to the discussion around online trolling, body-shaming and the scrutiny faced by female celebrities. Her message was that public criticism should not overshadow the professional achievements of actors or undermine their right to make personal choices.
