Miss India Manika Vishwakarma continues to captivate audiences with her poise, intelligence, and impeccable fashion choices at the ongoing Miss Universe pageant in Thailand. While her style has drawn admiration, it is her articulate responses during interviews that have truly stood out.

During a chain reaction question session on November 16, Manika was asked a question inspired by the iconic 1994 Miss Universe finale:

“What, for you, is the essence of being a woman?” — the same question once answered by India’s Sushmita Sen.

Manika’s Thoughtful Response

Before offering her own perspective, Manika reflected on Sushmita Sen’s memorable answer, saying:
“When an 18-year-old girl answered this question in 1994, she said simply that the essence of being a woman is the ability to nurture life and everything around you.”

Manika praised the timeless truth in Sushmita’s words, adding that she would build on that sentiment rather than depart from it.

She explained:

“As women, we are often seen through certain societal roles. But I want women to see themselves first as people, as humans. Yes, we have the ability to nurture and create life, and to beautify everything around us. The essence of being a woman is not just to enhance beauty but to embrace and amplify it. Being a woman is being infinite.”

Her Stunning Indian Ensemble

At an earlier event, Manika turned heads in a striking traditional Indian outfit designed by Rajdeep Ranawat. She wore a lehenga-choli set featuring rich dark brocade on the skirt and intricate gold and silver mirror work on the choli. The predominantly black and navy ensemble was paired with a beautifully embroidered navy jacket adorned with floral motifs and mirror detailing — adding a regal touch to her look.
