Massive Fire Breaks Out at Delhi’s Gaffar Market Ahead of Diwali, 25 Fire Engines Deployed
A massive fire broke out at a four-storey commercial building in Delhi’s Gaffar Market during the early hours of Friday, triggering an extensive firefighting operation just days before Diwali and on the occasion of Dhanteras.
Around 20 to 25 fire engines were rushed to the scene to contain the blaze. No casualties or injuries had been reported at the time of filing this report.
According to Delhi Police, a PCR call reporting the fire at Chain Wali Gali was received by Karol Bagh Police Station at approximately 1:28 am.
Police personnel, including the station house officer (SHO) and night-duty staff, immediately reached the location and discovered that the fire had broken out at Shop No. 13/21 in Puri Plaza, a four-storey commercial complex dealing in mobile phone accessories.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the blaze originated in a ground-floor shop where mobile phone batteries were stored before rapidly spreading to all four floors of the building.
Firefighters were deployed in large numbers to bring the situation under control, while authorities continued monitoring the incident to prevent further damage.
