M&M, TaMo lift Sensex 500pts; Nifty near 25k; Belrise IPO allotment today

Equity benchmarks — BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 — were trading higher on Monday, May 26, amid broad-based buying. The 30-share Sensex index was quoting at 82,083, up 362 points or 0.44 per cent, while the NSE Nifty50 was hovering at 24,954.35, up 101 points or 0.36 per cent.

M&M, Tata Motors, Nestle India, HCLTech and Bajaj Finserv were the top Sensex gainers today, while, Eternal (Zomato), Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank were top laggards.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap indices gained 0.47 per cent and 0.21 per cent, respectively.

All the sectoral indices were inching higher, led by the Nifty Auto index (up 0.87 per cent), the Nifty Metal index (0.45 per cent), the and Nifty Pharma index (0.48 per cent)
