Lavish Assets Unearthed: Telangana Engineer Held Over Villa, Flats, Thailand Wedding
An executive engineer in Telangana’s Irrigation and CAD Department has been arrested for allegedly accumulating assets far exceeding his known sources of income, the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Wednesday.
The accused, Nune Sridhar, was posted at Division No. 8, SRSP Camp in Choppadandi, Karimnagar.
“A case of disproportionate assets to known sources of income was registered… for acquiring assets through unlawful practices and dubious means during his service,” the ACB said in a statement.
Massive Haul in Raids
Raids were conducted at Sridhar’s residence and 13 other locations linked to him and his relatives. According to the ACB, the searches led to the seizure of:
-
A luxury villa in Tellapur
-
A flat in Shaikpet
-
Three flats in Karimnagar
-
Commercial property in Ameerpet
-
Independent houses in Hyderabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar
-
16 acres of agricultural land
-
19 residential plots in Hyderabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar
-
Two four-wheelers
-
Gold ornaments and multiple bank deposits
The market value of the recovered properties is believed to be significantly higher than the official figures.
Lavish Lifestyle
The ACB also revealed that Sridhar had hosted a lavish destination wedding in Thailand for his son, spending crores on the event.
Officials allege that Sridhar amassed these properties and wealth by misusing his official position. The investigation is ongoing, and further seizures are likely. The arrested officer has been sent to judicial remand.
