Lalit Modi’s Brother Samir Modi Arrested on Rape Charges in Delhi
Fugitive businessman and former IPL chief Lalit Modi’s brother, Samir Modi, was arrested by Delhi Police on rape charges at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday evening.
According to a senior police officer, a woman had lodged a complaint five days ago, alleging rape and criminal intimidation. Based on her complaint, a case was registered, and Samir was taken into custody.
Samir Modi, founder and managing director of direct selling company Modicare, has previously been in the news over a bitter inheritance battle with his mother, Bina Modi. In June 2024, he sought police protection, claiming threats from her amid the family feud.
The dispute stems from the distribution of a ₹11,000-crore inheritance following the death of family patriarch KK Modi in 2019. Samir had moved the Supreme Court, alleging his mother failed to distribute the assets as per the trust deed executed by his late father.
