Key Accused in Bihar Businessman Gopal Khemka’s Murder Shot Dead in Patna Encounter
The main accused in the murder of Bihar industrialist Gopal Khemka was shot dead in a police encounter in Patna on Monday night, officials confirmed.
According to police sources, the accused — identified as Raja — allegedly opened fire on officers when they arrived to arrest him. In the ensuing exchange, he was fatally shot.
“As per information received, police have killed an accused in the Khemka murder case who tried to attack them. Nitish Kumar ji is closely monitoring the situation,” said JD(U) leader Rajeev Ranjan.
Raja is believed to have supplied the weapon used in the killing of Khemka, a prominent businessman who was gunned down outside his Patna residence on July 4.
“As soon as he alighted from his vehicle, an assailant fired at him from point-blank range. He was rushed to a private hospital but was declared brought dead,” a senior police officer told Hindustan Times earlier.
The encounter follows a major crackdown by Patna police, who detained around 12 individuals linked to the murder case just a day earlier.
Preliminary investigations suggest the murder was carefully planned and executed, although the motive is still under investigation.
