Kerala to Host India’s First Travel Literary Festival ‘Yaanam 2025’ in Varkala
Kerala Tourism announced that it will host India’s first travel literary festival, ‘Yaanam 2025: Tales, Trails & Journeys’, from 17 to 19 October 2025 at Ranga Kala Kendram, Varkala, Kerala. The announcement was made by Sajeev K R, Tourist Information Officer, Kerala Tourism, during a media event in Pune.
The three-day festival aims to bring together travelers, writers, artists, and adventurers to share stories and experiences through panels, trails, and performances. Designed to showcase Varkala as an experiential destination, Yaanam promotes cultural exchange, narrative tourism, and sustainable travel, aligning with Kerala Tourism’s innovative initiatives to boost the state’s global appeal.
Kerala Tourism recently highlighted its capabilities for Destination Weddings and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events at the Wedding and MICE Conclave in Kochi, which will now be actively promoted in B2B meets and trade fairs.
According to Biju K, Secretary – Tourism, Government of Kerala, the state, with its pristine natural beauty, vibrant culture, and rich heritage, is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for both destination weddings and corporate MICE events. With world-class facilities, scenic landscapes, and a blend of tradition and modernity, Kerala is attracting event planners, couples, and corporate clients seeking unique experiences.
Sajeev K R also highlighted that the festival will feature major upcoming events, including:
-
Kochi-Muziris Biennale (12 December 2025 – 31 March 2026), India’s leading contemporary art festival
-
Champions Boat League (CBL) (19 September – 6 December 2025), currently ongoing in Kainakkary, Alappuzha
In addition to these, Kerala’s core attractions—beaches, hill stations, houseboats, backwaters, plantations, jungle resorts, homestays, Ayurveda wellness programs, adventure activities, and trekking—will enrich the visitor experience.
Kerala continues to lead in domestic tourism, welcoming 22,246,989 Indian visitors in 2024, and aims to build on this growth as tourism continues to rebound post-COVID-19, Sajeev K R noted.
