Kangana Ranaut Slams Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks on Army, Calls SC Reprimand a ‘Welcome Move’

Following the Supreme Court’s stern observations on Rahul Gandhi’s comments regarding the Indian Army and the India-China border issue, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut launched a scathing attack on the Congress leader, accusing him of an “anti-India mindset” and aligning with hostile narratives.

“Rahul Gandhi always speaks against India, whether it’s about the economy or our defence forces. He echoes the sentiments of enemy nations. He has an anti-India mindset,” Kangana said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Bollywood actor-turned-politician welcomed the apex court’s intervention, stating that its tough stance should serve as a “warning” to others.

“It’s a welcome move that the Supreme Court pulled him up. In the future, others should also be mindful not to hurt India’s honour, integrity, and morale,” she added.

Supreme Court Rebukes Rahul Gandhi

Ranaut’s remarks came after a Supreme Court bench comprising Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih raised concerns over Gandhi’s statements made during his 2022 ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

Referring to Gandhi’s claim that China had occupied 2,000 sq km of Indian territory, Justice Datta asked:

“How do you get to know that 2000 square kilometres of Indian territory was occupied by China? What is the credible material? If you are a true Indian, you would not say this during a border conflict.”

The bench also questioned why Gandhi made such statements on social media rather than in Parliament.

“Why don’t you raise such serious matters in Parliament? Why on social media?” the court asked.

The Controversial Statement

Gandhi’s remarks were made during a press interaction on December 16, 2022, amid the Congress’s nationwide march.

“They won’t ask a single question about China capturing 2000 sq km of Indian territory, killing 20 Indian soldiers, and beating our troops in Arunachal Pradesh,” Gandhi had said, adding that the Indian media was silent on such matters.

The statement, which resurfaced during court proceedings, has triggered backlash from the BJP and its allies, who accused Gandhi of undermining national morale.

With the Supreme Court’s rebuke now on record, Kangana Ranaut and other BJP leaders are using the moment to ramp up pressure on the Congress and reinforce their stance on national security discourse.
