‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’, ‘Unfair’: INDIA Bloc Allies React as NDA Sweeps Bihar

Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)—leaders of the INDIA bloc in Bihar—said they will analyse the Bihar assembly election results but claimed the outcome strengthens their belief that large-scale “vote chori” was carried out by the Election Commission of India (ECI) at the behest of certain parties.

INDIA Bloc Reacts to Bihar Verdict

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi thanked voters who supported the Mahagathbandhan and called the results “truly surprising,” alleging the alliance could not win an election that was “unfair from the very beginning.”
“This fight is for the protection of the Constitution and democracy,” he said, adding that the bloc will conduct a “deep review” and strengthen efforts to “save democracy.”

RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s CM face Tejashwi Yadav cited vote-share data to allege rigging.
“RJD 1.8 crore votes, 25 seats; BJP 96 lakh votes, 91 seats; JDU 90 lakh votes, 83 seats… Rigging can be carried out with the support of power, system, agencies and money power!” he wrote on X.
He argued that the mandate was still in favour of the RJD, which secured the highest state-wide vote share at 23%.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge echoed Rahul Gandhi, saying the alliance respected the people’s verdict but would continue its “fight against those weakening democracy by misusing constitutional institutions.” He said a detailed analysis of the results would follow.

‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’

NCP–Sharadchandra Pawar leader Supriya Sule congratulated the NDA on its win, quoting the popular line, “Jo jeeta wohi sikandar,” and acknowledged the alliance would review its defeat.

Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK leader MK Stalin congratulated Nitish Kumar for the decisive victory and praised Tejashwi Yadav for his “tireless campaign.” He said the results reflected welfare delivery, political messaging and effective vote management but added that they did not “whitewash the misdeeds” of the ECI, whose credibility he said was at its “lowest point.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi advised the Opposition to focus more on women voters, noting that women’s turnout in Bihar exceeded men’s by 8.8 percentage points.
“An alternative cannot be without them,” she said on X.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, commenting while results were still being tallied, said the Opposition needed “serious introspection.” He noted he had not been invited to campaign in Bihar and thus could not offer “first-hand information” on what went wrong.

NDA’s Dominant Win

The NDA—led by the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U)—won a sweeping 202 seats in the 243-member Bihar assembly. The Mahagathbandhan was reduced to 35 seats, with the Congress winning six and the RJD 25.
