Italy’s Jannik Sinner secured his maiden Wimbledon title on Sunday with a commanding win over Carlos Alcaraz, defeating the Spaniard 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court.

Following his historic victory, the 23-year-old champion had a royal rendezvous with Kate, Princess of Wales, and her two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Kate, who is the patron of the All England Club, returned to the royal box alongside Prince William and their children to watch the highly anticipated men’s final. This marked her second consecutive day at Wimbledon as she continues to gradually resume public duties amid her ongoing recovery from cancer treatment. She also had the honour of presenting the winner’s trophy to Sinner.

After the match, Sinner met the royal family and even signed tennis balls for George and Charlotte. Describing the encounter as “amazing,” he said, “I asked the kids if they play tennis and what kind of rackets they use—just a light chat. It’s really special for us players to have them watching. It shows how much they care about tennis.”

“I feel lucky to have met her [Kate] and the whole family. It was a very nice moment,” he added.

The final was also attended by King Felipe VI of Spain, along with several stars from Hollywood and Bollywood, adding to the grandeur of the day.
