Jannik Sinner Crushes Djokovic to Reach Wimbledon 2025 Final, Sets Up Alcaraz Rematch
Jannik Sinner delivered a masterclass in precision and power on Friday, dismantling Novak Djokovic in straight sets—6-3, 6-3, 6-4—to book his spot in the Wimbledon 2025 final.
The 22-year-old Italian was in complete control throughout the semi-final, as the 38-year-old Djokovic appeared a shadow of his former self, struggling with movement and consistency.
Djokovic, hampered by a lingering injury sustained during his quarter-final win over Flavio Cobolli and having skipped training the day before, never truly found his rhythm. Sinner, meanwhile, capitalised ruthlessly.
“I can’t believe it,” Sinner said after the win. “It’s a tournament I always watched as a kid on TV. I never imagined I’d play the final. My dad and brother just arrived today, so it makes it even more special.”
Acknowledging Djokovic’s physical struggles, Sinner added, “I served really well today and moved great on court. In the third set, I think everyone saw he was a bit injured. He was in a tough spot, but I tried to stay calm and focus on playing my best tennis, especially in key moments.”
Alcaraz Awaits in the Final
Up next, Sinner faces world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated rematch of their French Open final clash, which the Spaniard won in dramatic fashion.
Reflecting on their growing rivalry, Sinner said, “It’s an honour to share the court with Carlos again. We push each other to the limit. Everyone knows the kind of talent he is. Hopefully, it will be another great match.”
Though Alcaraz leads their head-to-head 8-4, Sinner won their only previous encounter on grass—at Wimbledon 2022. With both players at the peak of their powers, Sunday’s final promises to be a blockbuster.
