Israeli military says intercepted missile launched from Yemen

The Israeli military on Sunday said it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, prompting sirens to sound in several parts of the country as per standard protocol.

Israel has warned Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement of imposing a naval and aerial blockade if it continues attacks on Israel, which the group claims are in solidarity with Gaza.

Since the Gaza war began in October 2023, the Houthis have launched repeated strikes toward Israel and targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, disrupting global trade. While most of the dozens of missiles and drones have either been intercepted or fallen short, Israel has responded with multiple retaliatory strikes.
