Iran Supreme Leader Issues Dire Warning After Launching Hypersonic Missile at Israel

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a stark warning on Wednesday as the conflict between Iran and Israel escalated dramatically into its sixth day.

In a symbolic and charged social media post on platform X (formerly Twitter), Khamenei declared, “In the name of the renowned Haydar, the battle begins,” invoking powerful religious imagery rooted in Shia Islam.

Symbolic Warning: “The Battle Begins”

The full message read:

“In the name of the renowned #Haydar, the battle begins.
Ali, with his Zulfiqar, to #Khaybar returns.”

“Haydar” is a revered title for Imam Ali, the first Imam in Shia Islam, while “Zulfiqar” refers to his legendary double-edged sword. The reference to “Khaybar” alludes to a historic battle in early Islamic history, symbolizing a decisive and holy war. The post signals a deep religious framing of Iran’s stance against Israel.

Khamenei later reinforced his warning with another statement:
“We must act forcefully against the terrorist Zionist entity. We will not show leniency toward the Zionists.”

Hypersonic Missiles, Airstrikes Mark Dramatic Escalation

Iran claimed it used hypersonic missiles in overnight attacks on Israel — a significant escalation in firepower. These developments come as US President Donald Trump continues to pressure Tehran, demanding the country’s “unconditional surrender.”

Hours after Khamenei’s initial post, Israel launched a powerful wave of airstrikes on Tehran. Explosions rocked the capital in the early hours of Wednesday, following an Israeli call for evacuation in targeted zones. While Iranian officials did not formally confirm the attacks, local reports confirmed blasts across the city.

Among the targets were:

  • Imam Hossein University, a key institution linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in eastern Tehran.

  • Khojir missile production facility, a major weapons complex near Tehran, according to Iranian news outlets cited by Reuters.

Sirens in Israel as Iran Launches Missile Barrage

Simultaneously, air raid sirens were activated across multiple regions of Israel as Iran launched a fresh barrage of missiles. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said one “suspicious air target” had crossed from the east and was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force.

The reciprocal strikes underscore the rapidly deteriorating situation, as both nations continue to trade heavy fire with no signs of de-escalation. With Iran invoking religious doctrine and Israel intensifying its tactical strikes, the confrontation appears poised to enter an even more dangerous phase.
