Iran missile barrage sparks explosions over Tel Aviv

The latest missile barrage from Iran triggered a series of explosions across Tel Aviv on Friday, as firefighters battled a blaze at a residential building near the country’s commercial hub.

The strikes came after Israel expanded its campaign against Hezbollah, vowing retaliation against the Tehran-backed group for entering the conflict following the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday.

Iran’s state broadcaster said missiles were fired “against targets in the heart of Tel Aviv,” shortly after the Israeli military reported it was working to intercept incoming projectiles late Thursday.

Journalists from Agence France-Presse in Tel Aviv reported hearing two nearly simultaneous waves of explosions across the city.

Rocket trails were also visible in the sky above Netanya, a coastal city north of Tel Aviv along the Mediterranean Sea.

Following the barrage, Israel’s emergency service Magen David Adom said its teams had responded to several reported impact sites but confirmed there were no casualties.

Israel Police said officers were handling incidents involving fallen projectiles in central Israel, reporting property damage but no injuries.

One projectile struck a building on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, forcing residents to evacuate. At another residential site near the economic hub, firefighters worked to extinguish a blaze caused by debris from an intercepted rocket.

Meanwhile, Israel Home Front Command issued several rocket alert warnings early Friday for communities near the Lebanon border.
