The launch of Apple’s iPhone 17 series on Friday saw massive crowds at Apple Stores in Mumbai and Delhi, with long queues of eager customers. At Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) store, the rush briefly turned chaotic after a scuffle broke out among people waiting in line.

A video shared by news agency PTI showed two individuals exchanging slaps and punches while others tried to intervene. Security personnel quickly stepped in to restore order. The reason behind the altercation was not immediately known.

Excited buyers queue up overnight
Despite the incident, enthusiasm among buyers remained high. The new iPhone 17 series, priced between ₹82,900 and ₹2,29,900, went on sale in India on September 19 for both pre-booked and walk-in customers.

Aman Memon, among the first buyers in Mumbai, told PTI: “I purchased three iPhones for my family. The design and colours this year are very different. This is my favourite colour, which is why I was very excited. I’ve been waiting for this phone for six months and queued up from 3 am.”

Another customer, Irfan, who came to buy the orange iPhone 17 Pro Max, said: “I’ve been waiting since 8 pm. The camera, battery and overall look are much improved this year.”

Strong demand in Delhi, Bengaluru
In Delhi, large crowds gathered outside the Saket Apple Store, while in Bengaluru, a buyer said: “We booked four units. This model is better than the last three, and I’ve been an early buyer for years.”

To boost sales, Apple’s retail partners and distributors are offering promotional deals, including cashback, exchange discounts, EMI schemes, and bundled offers on accessories and wearables.
