IndiGo Flight Status Live: 60 Bengaluru Flights Cancelled as Airline Disruptions Enter Day 10
IndiGo chairman Vikram Singh Mehta has responded to allegations surrounding the airline’s week-long operational crisis, rejecting claims that the carrier engineered the disruptions or attempted to influence government regulations. “That we compromised safety. That the Board was not involved. These claims are incorrect,” Mehta said in a video message posted on X.
He stated that IndiGo fully complied with the revised pilot fatigue regulations when they came into force. “We operated under the new rules throughout, both in July and in November. We did not attempt to bypass them, nor did we do anything that negatively impacted our unblemished track record of safety,” he said.
Meanwhile, as the disruptions enter their tenth day, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has set up an oversight panel that will operate out of IndiGo’s corporate headquarters in Gurugram. In its internal order, the regulator said the step was necessary “in view of passenger inconvenience caused due to large-scale disruptions” at airports across the country.
