Post-Protest Recovery Efforts

Authorities in Nepal have begun clearing charred vehicles from streets and parking areas, with government buildings receiving fresh paint after the violent protests last week.

  • Cranes are being used to tow damaged vehicles to the federal parliament premises.

  • Vehicles are being marked with registration numbers for insurance claims and damage assessment.

Damage Assessment:

  • Preliminary surveys report around 700 vehicles torched, including over 250 four-wheelers and 450 two-wheelers.

  • The Prime Minister’s Office alone suffered 47 four-wheelers and 74 two-wheelers damaged.

  • The Home Ministry and Federal Parliament Secretariat also reported significant vehicular damage.

The newly appointed interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki temporarily operated from another building as the main Prime Minister’s Office was damaged during the protests. With election dates announced, life is gradually returning to normal, and the PMO is receiving a fresh coat of white paint.
