India Slams Pakistan at UN, Calls Out ‘Fanaticism and Terrorism’ in Fiery Rebuttal
India delivered a sharp rebuttal to Pakistan at the United Nations on Tuesday, accusing its neighbour of being steeped in “fanaticism and terrorism” and misusing international platforms to spread “juvenile disinformation.”
Responding to comments by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during a UN Security Council open debate, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, issued a scathing critique of Islamabad’s credibility on global issues.
“On one hand, there is India — a mature democracy, a surging economy, and a pluralistic, inclusive society. At the other extreme is Pakistan, steeped in fanaticism and terrorism, and a serial borrower from the IMF,” Harish said.
He accused Pakistan of routinely exploiting multilateral forums for narrow political agendas, adding, “It ill behoves a member of this Council to offer homilies while indulging in practices that are unacceptable to the international community.”
Reaffirming India’s commitment to a peaceful and equitable global order, Harish emphasized New Delhi’s constructive engagement at the UN and reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on terrorism. “This is a fundamental principle that must be upheld without exception,” he said.
Citing the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians were killed by Pakistan-based terrorists, Harish defended India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor, describing it as a “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” response targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
He also pushed back on recent claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that Washington had mediated the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Harish clarified that the cessation of hostilities, following brief cross-border firing, was agreed to at Pakistan’s own request.
The ambassador’s remarks reflect India’s growing frustration with what it views as Pakistan’s duplicity — promoting extremist elements at home while preaching peace on the global stage.
