India Evacuates Over 100 Students from War-Hit Iran, Reaffirms Global Commitment to Citizen Safety

In yet another demonstration of swift diplomacy and humanitarian commitment, India successfully evacuated over 100 students stranded in conflict-affected regions of Iran, reaffirming its role as a global leader in protecting its citizens during emergencies.

According to media reports on Thursday, the evacuation was carried out amid heightened tensions and military strikes between Iran and Israel, which have rendered parts of the region volatile and unsafe. The Indian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, activated a mission-mode operation to extract its nationals from war-hit zones — a move that has been widely praised both domestically and internationally.

Government sources revealed that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) coordinated closely with Indian embassies in Tehran and local authorities on the ground to ensure the safe passage and airlifting of the students, many of whom were enrolled in medical and engineering universities in Iran.

Diplomatic channels were engaged round-the-clock to navigate logistical challenges, obtain necessary permissions, and facilitate the safe congregation of Indian nationals in secure zones for evacuation.

The students were flown out of Iran in a special chartered aircraft, accompanied by embassy officials and emergency response teams. Many of them have already arrived in Mumbai and Delhi, where they were welcomed by relieved family members.

Many of the rescued students expressed gratitude to Indian authorities for their timely action. “We were caught in a terrifying situation with no clarity on how to leave. The embassy’s support and the Indian government’s swift response saved our lives,” said a student from Maharashtra who was evacuated from the southern Iranian city of Shiraz.

Parents and student unions have also commended the government’s responsiveness, noting that even in a rapidly escalating warzone, India stood by its people without delay.
