Independence Day 2025 LIVE Updates: President Murmu Lauds Operation Sindoor in Eve-of-Day Address
Preparations are in full swing in the national capital for the 79th Independence Day celebrations. The Delhi Police have announced a traffic advisory effective from 4 am to 10 am on Friday, with restrictions and diversions on several key routes.
Roads to be closed for general traffic include Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail, Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail, and SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk.
Security has been intensified across the city, with snipers positioned atop high-rise buildings, enhanced CCTV surveillance, and the deployment of over 11,000 security personnel along with 3,000 traffic police in and around the Red Fort, PTI reported.
On Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of Independence Day, condemning the “cowardly and utterly inhuman” April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. She praised the armed forces for their “strategic clarity and technical capability” in dismantling terrorist infrastructure across the border.
