“If you have physical needs…”: Woman alleges months of harassment at Tata Consultancy Services Nashik unit
A woman employee at Tata Consultancy Services’ Nashik BPO unit has accused five colleagues of months of sexual harassment, stalking, inappropriate touching, and making derogatory remarks about her religion, according to a police complaint.
The complainant, who joined the company in June 2025, alleged that during her training period, a team leader frequently entered sessions without official work and made personal, suggestive comments, including remarks about her marriage and living situation. She also claimed he gave her an inappropriate nickname and made uncomfortable advances.
After moving into a production role, she alleged another colleague repeatedly approached her, made unwanted physical contact, and passed explicit propositions despite knowing she was married. She further accused him of making offensive remarks targeting her religion.
The complaint also names two other colleagues, accusing them of making sexually suggestive comments, staring at her inappropriately, and engaging in unwanted physical proximity and contact. In one instance, she alleged that a colleague pulled her saree during a workplace celebration, while another circled around her and stared inappropriately.
The incidents reportedly took place between June 2025 and March 2026 at the company’s Nashik office. The woman said she initially did not report the harassment out of fear of losing her job.
She has now filed a formal complaint against all five accused, citing charges of sexual harassment, stalking, inappropriate touching, and hurting religious sentiments.
Amid the controversy, the National Commission for Women has set up a fact-finding committee to investigate multiple complaints from the Nashik unit, including serious allegations involving female employees.
TCS stated that it has a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment and confirmed that the employees named in the complaint have been suspended pending an internal inquiry.
