Honeymoon Murder: Victim’s Kin Seek Detailed Questioning of Sonam to Uncover ‘Complete Truth’
The family of Raja Raghuvanshi, the Indore-based businessman allegedly murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, has demanded deeper investigation and a narcoanalysis test of his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is one of the key accused in the case.
Raja’s elder brother, Sachin Raghuvanshi, on Thursday alleged that Sonam misled investigators during her initial police custody and failed to disclose critical information related to the murder. He called for Sonam and four other accused to be brought to Indore for extensive interrogation.
“She didn’t cooperate during her eight-day police custody and withheld important details. The police should be granted extended custody to question her thoroughly,” Sachin told PTI.
He also demanded a narco test not just for Sonam, but for her entire family, alleging that her relatives and friends may have played a role in what he called a “massive conspiracy.”
“The truth won’t come out unless all angles are investigated. This conspiracy wasn’t small — the motive must be clearly established,” he said.
On the same day, a court in Shillong extended the police custody of Sonam and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha by two days. Three other accused – Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi – were sent to 14-day judicial custody.
Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, broke down in Indore, demanding answers from her daughter-in-law. “Why did Sonam get my son killed? I won’t get peace until I hear the truth from her own mouth,” she said.
Raja Raghuvanshi went missing on May 23 during his honeymoon trip in Meghalaya. His mutilated body was found on June 2 in a deep gorge near a waterfall in Cherrapunji (Sohra), East Khasi Hills. He had married Sonam on May 11 in Indore, and the couple left for their honeymoon on May 20.
Sonam surrendered to police on June 8 in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, while the others were arrested from various locations in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
A special investigation team (SIT) from Meghalaya Police is currently probing the case.
