Gunfight Erupts in J&K’s Kishtwar After Army Makes Contact with Terrorists
The Army has established contact with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, triggering a gunfight in the Dul area on Sunday. Troops engaged the militants during an intelligence-based operation, the White Knight Corps said, confirming that “gunfire [was] exchanged” and the operation was ongoing.
The encounter comes a day after two soldiers — Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh — were killed during overnight firing in Kulgam as ‘Operation Akhal’ entered its ninth day. Launched on August 1, the Kulgam operation followed specific inputs about terrorist presence in the area and has involved the Army, J&K Police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group. At least one terrorist has been killed so far.
The Chinar Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, calling their sacrifice an enduring inspiration and extending condolences to their families. Operations in both Kishtwar and Kulgam remain underway.
