The Global Solar Council (GSC) and ABSOLAR will host a special event on November 14 at COP 30 in Belém, Brazil, marking the 10th anniversary of the GSC, founded during COP21 in Paris to unify and strengthen the solar sector globally.

Scheduled on the “Energy Themed Day” of the climate conference, the event will gather representatives from governments, companies, NGOs, and institutions to reflect on solar energy’s evolution and discuss strategies for its central role in the energy transition by 2030. The celebration also underscores Brazil’s leadership in advancing solar energy in Latin America.

“Celebrating 10 years of GSC at COP 30 is a proud moment. Solar energy has become the world’s most competitive electricity source and an essential pillar of the climate solution,” said Rodrigo Sauaia, GSC president and ABSOLAR executive director.

Other confirmed speakers include Sonia Dunlop, CEO of GSC, and Florian Wessendorf, CEO of Solar Promotion International, highlighting solar technology’s impact on innovation, job creation, and global competitiveness.

Founded as a non-profit, the GSC focuses on policy, financing, training, sustainability, and government support, working to accelerate the adoption of solar solutions worldwide.
