From Setup to Bust: Six Bengal Men Caught Running Fake Police Station in Noida
Gautam Budh Nagar police have arrested six men for allegedly running a bogus office under the name “International Police & Crime Investigation Bureau” in Noida’s Sector 70, using forged documents, fake IDs, and police-style insignia to impersonate officials, mislead the public, and extort money.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the premises at BS-136 around midnight Sunday. The setup mimicked an official agency, complete with police-like colors and logos, counterfeit ministry certificates, and claims of affiliation with Interpol, the International Human Rights Commission, and Eurasia Pol. The gang also claimed to operate a UK branch and solicited donations via their website.
DCP Central Noida Shakti Mohan Awasthi said officers seized forged IDs, ministry documents, cheque books, ATM cards, press cards, “human rights” IDs, stamps, mobile phones, and ₹42,300 in cash. The group had been operating for about 10 days from a rented office, targeting a small number of victims so far.
The accused — all from West Bengal — have been identified as Bibhash Chandra Adhikari, his son Araghya Adhikari, Babul Chandra Mandal, Pintu Pal, Samapda Mal, and Ashish Kumar. Police say they created an elaborate facade to function as a “parallel police system” and deceive people.
A case has been filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the IT Act, and the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act. The men are in judicial custody, and police are probing their backgrounds, verifying claims, and identifying more victims.
