Four wanted gangsters, including Ranjan Pathak, the 25-year-old kingpin of a Bihar-based gang, were killed in a joint operation by Delhi Police and Bihar Police early Thursday morning. The encounter occurred around 2:20 a.m. on Bahadur Shah Marg in Delhi, according to news agency ANI.

The other gangsters killed were identified as Bimlesh Mahto (25), Manish Pathak (33), and Aman Thakur (21). While Thakur was a resident of Karwal Nagar, Delhi, the others hailed from Sitamarhi in Bihar.

Authorities said the gang was reportedly planning a major criminal operation ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, prompting the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Bihar Police to set a trap in Rohini.

According to DCP Crime Branch Sanjeev Yadav, the gangsters opened fire when police attempted to intercept them. The officers returned fire, and all four sustained bullet injuries. They were rushed to a Rohini hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Senior officials from both Delhi and Bihar Police inspected the site, while forensic and crime scene teams conducted detailed examinations.
