Four teachers at a Delhi school have been suspended after a Class 10 student died by suicide at a metro station, with the family alleging he faced mental harassment for over a year.

The boy’s family said he had repeatedly complained to teachers and counsellors that he was being scolded and “troubled” and had even warned them that he was contemplating suicide.

In letters issued to the four teachers—reviewed by Hindustan Times—the school informed them that an FIR (No. 336A, Tis Hazari Court, dated November 19, 2025) had been registered and that the matter was under investigation.

“In view of the seriousness of the allegations, the competent authority has decided to place you under suspension with immediate effect. You shall remain under suspension till the completion of the investigation and further orders,” the letter stated.

According to police, the 16-year-old student jumped from the platform at Rajendra Place Metro Station at around 2:34 pm on Tuesday. He was taken to BLK Super Speciality Hospital, where he was declared dead.

On Thursday, the student’s parents and friends staged a protest outside the school in Ashok Palace, demanding strict action against the accused teachers and accountability from the school administration.

Family alleges persistent mistreatment

The boy’s father accused the teachers and the school principal of driving his son to take the extreme step, claiming he was repeatedly harassed “over petty issues.” A senior police officer said investigators had recovered a suicide note naming several teachers and blaming them for his mental distress.

“For the last one year, my son was being scolded and troubled by his teachers over petty issues. He told us about it, and we raised our concerns, but nothing happened. Even his friends were troubled by those teachers,” the father told HT earlier.

He also alleged that on Tuesday, his son collapsed at school, but instead of helping him, the teacher dismissed it as an act. When the boy insisted he had fainted and began crying, the teacher allegedly continued to claim he was pretending.

Police investigations and internal school inquiries are ongoing.
