FIR Against Congress Bihar Unit Over AI-Generated Deepfake Video of PM Modi, Mother

Delhi Police has registered an FIR after the Congress’ Bihar unit shared an AI-generated “deepfake” video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother on X, PTI reported.

The complaint was filed on Friday by BJP Delhi Election Cell convenor Sanket Gupta at North Avenue Police Station. Gupta alleged the video “maligned the Prime Minister’s image, grossly violating law, morality, and women’s dignity.”

The FIR names no individual accused and invokes sections 336 (forgery), 340(2) (forged electronic record), 352 (intentional insult), 356(2) (defamation), and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The 36-second clip, labelled “AI GENERATED” and captioned “Maa appears in sahab’s dreams,” shows Modi’s late mother supposedly criticising him over his politics in poll-bound Bihar.

The BJP slammed the Congress for the video, calling it “shameful” and questioning “how low” the opposition would go to target Modi.
