‘Every Inch of Pakistan Within BrahMos Range, Operation Sindoor Was Just a Trailer’: Rajnath Singh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday declared that “every inch of Pakistan’s territory lies within the range of BrahMos missiles” and what was seen during Operation Sindoor was “just a trailer.” Speaking in Lucknow, he said the successful operation proved that “victory has now become a habit for India.”
Singh, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, flagged off the first batch of four BrahMos missiles produced at the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre in Sarojini Nagar — marking a major milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).
Highlighting BrahMos’ role in Operation Sindoor, Singh said the missile has gone “beyond the trial phase” to become the strongest proof of India’s national security capabilities.
“Operation Sindoor is proof that victory has become our habit. The operation was just a trailer. It has made Pakistan realise what might follow,” he asserted, adding that the mission instilled new confidence among Indians and demonstrated BrahMos’ effectiveness to the world.
Speaking on the occasion of Dhanteras, the minister said the day was “auspicious” not only because of the festival but also due to the delivery of four BrahMos missiles.
“Today, the grace of Goddess Lakshmi is showering not just on our security sector but equally on our economy,” he remarked.
The BrahMos missile, Singh said, is equipped with a traditional warhead and an advanced guidance system capable of striking long-range targets at supersonic speeds.
“This combination of speed, accuracy, and power makes BrahMos one of the best systems in the world — the backbone of our Armed Forces,” he added.
He stressed that such achievements have made ‘Made in India’ a global brand, not just a slogan.
Applauding Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s efforts in operationalising the Lucknow facility within five months of its virtual inauguration on May 11, 2025, Singh noted how Uttar Pradesh had transformed from being known for poor law and order to becoming a magnet for investors.
“Uttar Pradesh was once known for goonda raj. People lived in fear and investors stayed away. Today, the state has transformed under Yogi Adityanath’s leadership,” he said.
The Lucknow unit has become the first in the UP Defence Corridor to indigenously manage the entire manufacturing and testing process of BrahMos missiles — strengthening both strategic autonomy and industrial growth. The facility will produce about 100 missile systems annually, generating employment and boosting the local economy.
Singh revealed that the turnover of the Lucknow unit is expected to reach ₹3,000 crore from the next financial year, with ₹500 crore in GST collections.
“Each missile system not only protects the nation but also strengthens the economy. The taxes collected from a single missile can fund new schools, hospitals, and welfare schemes,” he said.
He also disclosed that BrahMos Aerospace has signed ₹4,000 crore worth of export contracts with two countries in the past month, and added that foreign experts will soon visit Lucknow to explore collaboration.
“Lucknow is not just my parliamentary constituency — it resides in my soul. It has now become a city of technology and industry, along with culture and tradition,” Singh said.
Calling the project “a symbol of patience, hard work, and determination,” Singh emphasised the need to build an ecosystem that empowers small and medium enterprises (SMEs) alongside large defence companies.
“The UP Defence Industrial Corridor will be fully successful only when small industries grow with big ones. They form the backbone of our defence ecosystem,” he noted.
He also underscored that India is now playing the role of a ‘giver, not just a taker’, citing the export of BrahMos to the Philippines and ongoing defence cooperation with other nations.
Titanium and Superalloy Materials Plant Dedicated to the Nation
Singh also inaugurated a Titanium and Superalloy Materials Plant at PTC Industries’ Strategic Materials Technology Complex in Lucknow. Spread across 50 acres with an investment of ₹1,000 crore, the plant has an annual production capacity of 6,000 tonnes and enables India to manufacture aviation-grade titanium and superalloys from domestic and recycled sources.
Emphasising the strategic value of rare earth materials used in defence, space, and electronics, Singh said only a few nations possess the capability to refine them.
“India must produce rare materials used in defence and aerospace to safeguard its technological sovereignty,” he said, adding that the new plant puts India among a select group of nations capable of producing critical defence-grade materials.
“With this facility, we can manufacture components for fighter jets, missiles, naval systems, and satellites — a big step towards self-reliance,” he said.
‘Uttar Pradesh Witnessing an Industrial Revolution’
Rajnath Singh praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for leading what he called an industrial revolution in Uttar Pradesh.
“Ten years ago, we could not have imagined such an industrial transformation in UP. I highly appreciate Yogi Adityanath ji’s leadership in creating this environment,” he said.
With the BrahMos facility, the titanium plant, and growing investor confidence, Singh said Uttar Pradesh is fast emerging as India’s new hub of defence manufacturing, innovation, and economic growth.
