Engine Snag Prompts Full Emergency on Delhi–Leh SpiceJet Flight With 150 On Board

A full emergency was declared on Tuesday morning for a SpiceJet Delhi–Leh flight after a reported issue with one of its engines forced the aircraft to return to the national capital.

According to officials, the emergency was declared around 6:30 am for flight SG-121 (DEL–IXL) following a malfunction in Engine 2, prompting an air return shortly after takeoff.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737 carrying around 150 passengers, landed safely in Delhi. All passengers were disembarked without incident.

In a statement, a SpiceJet spokesperson confirmed that the February 24 Delhi–Leh flight turned back due to a technical issue. “The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers were disembarked normally. There was no fire warning in the cockpit,” the spokesperson said.
