Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Economic Survey 2025-26, presented in Parliament by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, reflects India’s reform-oriented approach and steady progress in a challenging global environment.

He said the survey highlights the importance of inclusive development, with focused attention on farmers, MSMEs, youth employment, and social welfare.

“The economic survey tabled today presents a comprehensive picture of India’s Reform Express, reflecting steady progress in a challenging global environment. It highlights strong macroeconomic fundamentals, sustained growth momentum, and the expanding role of innovation, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure in nation-building,” Modi said in a post on X.

The Prime Minister added that the survey outlines a roadmap for strengthening manufacturing, enhancing productivity, and accelerating India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat.

“The insights offered will guide informed policymaking and reinforce confidence in India’s economic future,” he said.

Sitharaman Credits PM Modi

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said India’s macroeconomic fundamentals have strengthened significantly, crediting Prime Minister Modi for the achievement.

“We have successfully navigated global headwinds to place India on a high-growth trajectory, improving our potential GDP growth to 7%,” she said in a post on X.

Highlights of Economic Survey 2025-26

  • The survey projects India’s economy to grow between 6.8% and 7.2% in the financial year beginning April, reaffirming its position as the world’s fastest-growing major economy despite global trade risks and volatility.

  • According to National Statistics Office estimates, India’s economy grew by 7.4% in the current fiscal year, making it the fastest-growing major economy for the fourth consecutive year.

  • The survey has raised India’s potential growth forecast to 7%, up from 6.5% estimated three years ago.

The Economic Survey 2025-26 underscores India’s resilience, reform momentum, and long-term growth prospects amid an uncertain global outlook.
