Diljit Dosanjh Breaks Silence on Pahalgam Attack, Sardaarji 3 Row, India-Pakistan Match
Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh addressed the controversies surrounding his film Sardaarji 3, the Pahalgam terror attack, and India’s recent cricket clash with Pakistan during a concert in Malaysia. He clarified that his film was shot before the terror attack, while the Asia Cup match occurred afterward.
Several clips on social media showed Diljit saluting the Indian flag, saying, “Woh mere desh da jhanda hai. Always respect.” Speaking in Punjabi, he added, “When my film Sardaarji 3 was shot in February, the matches were being played.”
On the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which killed 26, mostly tourists, he expressed grief and said he has prayed for strict punishment for the terrorists. He also criticised the media for portraying him as anti-national, asserting, “Punjabis and the Sikh community could never go against the nation.”
Addressing his months-long silence, Diljit said, “I have many answers, but I kept quiet… Whoever tells you anything, you shouldn’t take that poison inside you. I have learned that from life.”
Earlier, Diljit faced backlash for casting Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaarji 3, released overseas on June 27, amid India-Pak tensions after the Pahalgam attack and subsequent Operation Sindoor.
Regarding India’s September 14 Asia Cup clash against Pakistan, he noted that despite pressures, the Indian team maintained dominance, winning by seven wickets—the first India-Pakistan meeting since the terror attack.
