Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, may have faced a theatrical ban in Pakistan and several Gulf nations, but the spy thriller is drawing attention across the border following its digital release.

A video shared by New Zealand-based YouTuber Karl Rock shows pirated copies of the film being openly sold at Karachi’s Rainbow Centre — a market long associated with counterfeit media. In the footage, vendors are seen offering the movie at low prices, underscoring the film’s apparent demand despite official restrictions on Indian cinema.

The video, which has circulated widely on social media, highlights the continued underground circulation of Indian films in Pakistan, where cinema releases have been largely halted amid prolonged political tensions. Viewers online reacted with a mix of amusement and commentary on cross-border cultural consumption.

The film’s popularity appears to extend beyond informal markets. Earlier this year, Dhurandhar climbed to the top of Netflix’s global non-English film rankings following its OTT debut, performing strongly in both India and Pakistan.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the thriller features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. Set in Karachi’s Lyari neighbourhood, the story explores covert intelligence missions against the backdrop of major geopolitical and terror-related events.

Following the film’s commercial success, a sequel — Dhurandhar: The Revenge — is slated for a March theatrical release, setting up a high-profile box office clash with Toxic.
