Delhi Police Arrest Two Gangsters Plotting to Kill Comedian Munawar Faruqui

Delhi Police have arrested two members of the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar–Virender Charan gang allegedly tasked with targeting stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui. The accused, identified as Rahul (from Panipat) and Sahil (from Bhiwani), were apprehended following a gunfight on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road, police told PTI.

Investigators said the men were acting on instructions from foreign-based gangster Rohit Godara, in collaboration with Goldy Brar and Virender Charan, and had conducted reconnaissance in Mumbai and Bengaluru to track Faruqui’s movements.

Police acted after receiving intelligence about the suspects near New Friends Colony. A trap was laid on Kalindi Kunj-Pushta Road, and around 3 a.m., a suspicious bike was stopped. When officers signaled the riders to halt, the gangsters opened fire, prompting a retaliatory police response. Rahul sustained a gunshot wound and is wanted in connection with a December 2024 triple murder in Yamunanagar, Haryana.

Faruqui, who won Bigg Boss in 2024 and has 14.2 million Instagram followers, had previously received threats, including from notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Intelligence in 2024 led police to move him from Delhi back to Mumbai for safety.

The arrests come amid a spike in criminal acts targeting celebrities by the Goldy Brar gang. Earlier this month, two shooters attacked outside actor Disha Patani’s home in Bareilly, and the Mumbai Crime Branch apprehended a man threatening comedian Kapil Sharma, both linked to the same gang.
