Delhi Airport Issues Travel Advisory Amid Heavy Rain, Urges Flyers to Use Metro
As heavy rains lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) issued a travel advisory urging passengers to use the Delhi Metro or other alternative transport modes to avoid delays en route to the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The advisory came amid a fresh spell of rain that disrupted traffic in several parts of the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day and a continuation of stormy conditions through the week.
“Delhi is experiencing inclement weather conditions. Our on-ground teams are working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure your journey remains hassle-free,” the DIAL advisory stated.
DIAL specifically urged travelers to opt for the Metro over road travel, warning of possible traffic congestion and waterlogging on key routes.
More Rain Expected in Delhi
According to IMD, Delhi will continue to experience a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain on Monday, with thunderstorms and rain expected to persist from July 15 to 20.
Heavy showers on Sunday had already caused major traffic snarls and waterlogging, particularly around central areas like Rajiv Chowk. Localities such as Bindapur in Uttam Nagar reported submerged roads and disrupted vehicular movement.
Authorities have advised citizens to monitor traffic updates, plan ahead, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak rainfall hours.
